About the Overseas Manager Exchanges Applications for the 2019 Taituarā Overseas Manager Exchange Programme are now closed. Applications for the 2020 exchanges will open in October 2019. The Taituarā Overseas Exchange Manager Programme is designed to provide local government managers with an opportunity to focus on their management development and career in local government through a short exchange with a partner manager in another country. The Overseas Exchange Manager Programme is one of a range of Taituarā initiatives that provide leadership and development opportunities specifically tailored to the local government environment. Many Taituarā members have benefited from the programme and through this professional, personal and cultural experience, most have gone back to their local authorities inspired and armed with a better perspective and increased knowledge of local government. Exchange recipients are surprised how similar the challenges faced by their overseas colleagues are to their own. These Exchanges are offered with the support of our sponsors JLT and Civic Financial Services. Four exchanges are offered in 2019. One to the United States, one to Canada (British Columbia), and two to Australia (one to Queensland and one to New South Wales). Each exchange involves a hosted visit to the destination country and the hosting of a reciprocal visitor from that country during the time period of the Taituarā Annual Summit. Details on the 2019 United States Exchange
The United States Exchange is sponsored by Civic Financial Services. The recipient will travel to the 2019 ICMA Annual Conference, Nashville/Davidson County, Tennessee, 20-23 October 2019.
Applicants for the ICMA US Exchange will undertake their exchange during the 2019 period and host an exchange member at the 2019 Taituarā Annual Summit being held in Napier on 26 and 27 September 2019.
Details on the 2019 Canadian Exchange
The Canadian exchange is sponsored by JLT. The recipient will travel to the 2020 Conference, Kelowna, British Columbia, 9-11 June 2020.
Applicants for the LGMA British Columbia Exchange will undertake their exchange during the 2020 period and host an exchange member at the 2019 Taituarā Annual Summit being held in Napier on 26 and 27 September 2019.
Details on the 2019 Australian Exchange (NSW)
The NSW, Australian Exchange is sponsored by JLT. The recipient will travel to the 2020 LG Professionals NSW Confernce, June 2020 (final dates to be confirmed).
Applicants for the LG Professionals Australian Exchange in 2019/20 will undertake their exchange during the period of the next Congress and host an exchange member at the 2019 Taituarā Annual Summit.
Details on the 2019 Australian Exchange (Queensland)
The Queensland, Australian Exchange is sponsored by JLT. The recipient will travel to the 2019 LGMA Queensland Annual Conference, 10-12 September 2019.
Applicants for the LGMA Queensland Exchange in 2019 will undertake their exchange during the period of the 2019 Conference and host an exchange member at the 2019 Taituarā Annual Summit, being held in Napier on 26 and 27 September 2019.
